Athletics Canada announces 2012 Participation Grant Recipients

OTTAWA – Athletics Canada is pleased to announce today the list of recipients who have been awarded grants as part of the 2012 Participation Grant Program.  Over $30,000 was awarded to provincial branch members and clubs in six provinces. 

Interested parties were invited to submit an application explaining how they would use additional funding to create or expand programs in the areas of Run Jump Throw / Hershey’s Track and Field Games, Para-Athletics, and in the category of other first contact initiatives. 

Run Jump Throw / Hershey’s Track and Field Games recipients

Recipient

Project

Athletics Manitoba

Produce a video for schools across the country displaying ease of use and implementation of the Run Jump Throw and Hershey’s Track and Field Games programs.

Fédération Québécoise d’Athlétisme

 

Increase number of Hershey’s Track and Field Games meets in province of Quebec.

Athletics Saskatchewan

Extend the length of Run Jump Throw summer camps offering additional opportunities to youth.  Train ten new Run Jump Throw instructors to deliver program to larger audience.


Para-Athletics recipients

Athletics Nova Scotia

 

Host a para-athletics coaching clinic in Halifax to help expand para-athletics coaching capacity in Atlantic Canada. 

BC Wheelchair Sports Association

 

Host development clinics focused on tie-down throwing and high school participation to increase awareness, knowledge, and overall participation in wheelchair athletics.  


Other First Contact recipients

Langley Mustangs

 

Provide technical, administration and delivery support of school meets in the community.   

OT Fitness Educational Services Inc.

 

Deliver a series of inter-school competitions and challenges which will involve over 20,000 children creating increased participation in track & field based activities in Ontario.
