Canada’s best junior track and field athletes get underway today in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG – The 2012 Canadian Junior Track and Field Championships begin today in Winnipeg, Manitoba at University Stadium on the campus of the University of Manitoba. 

A number of athletes who competed for Canada at the 2012 World Junior Championships in Spain will compete in Winnipeg including Calvin Arsenault of Kitchener, Ont., in the 110-metre hurdles, Maria Bernard of Calgary, Alta., in the 1500-metres, Khamica Bingham of Toronto, Ont., and Shai-Anne Davis of Richmond, B.C., in the 100-metres, Brandon McBride of Windsor, Ont., and Winnipeg’s own Julia Zrinyi in the 800-metres.

The first event on the track today is the men’s 400-metre hurdles qualifying and it goes at 11:10am local time.  Things get underway on the field at 11:15am local time with the women’s hammer throw qualifying.
