Athletics Canada Announces 2007 IAAF World Youth Championships Team

Thursday, June 21, 2007

OTTAWA– Athletics Canada announced today the team competing at the 5th World Youth Championships from July 11th to 15th. The competition takes place in Ostrava Czech Republic and is predicted to be the largest gathering of world youth athletes ever.

Bruce Pirnie, Athletics Canada Director and Head Coach of Development Programs, believes he has a strong team heading to the Czech Republic which will challenge for a number of medals.  "This year's team is very deep and strong in almost every event area. We're looking to improve on our 2005 results from Morocco and should have medal contenders in several events."
