Athletics Canada names team for 2008 NACAC Cross Country Championships

OTTAWA Athletics Canada announced today the national team that will compete at the 2008 NACAC (North America, Central America and Caribbean) Cross Country Championships in Orlando, Florida on March 1 2008.
Canada came away with eight medals from the NACAC Cross Country Championships last year, highlighted by 2007 returnee Lindsay Carson who won gold in the junior womens race. Elizabeth Wightman will be looking to improve on her fourth place finish in the womens senior race.
In the team standings Canada was first in senior women, junior men and junior women and finished third in the senior men category.

Cross Country running is both an individual event as well as a team sport. At the NACAC Championships each country can enter a maximum of 6 athletes per race (Junior, Senior / Men, Women) with the individual placing of each country's top 4 runners included to accumulate a team score.
Athletics Canada is the national sport governing body for the sport of track and field including cross-country running, road running and road racing.
