March 8th

Men's 400 metres semi-finals

Tyler Christopher qualified for the 400 metres final by registering the fastest semi-final time of 46.57 seconds.

Women's 3000 metres final

Megan Metcalfe finished 12th in the 3000 metres final.  Metcalfe achieved a performance of 9 minutes 7.16 seconds.  The gold medal went to Meseret Defar of Ethiopia with a time of 8 minutes 38.79 seconds.

Men's high jump final

Mike Mason cleared 2.27 metres to finish 8th in the men's high jump final.  Mason made three attempts at 2.30 metres but failed to clear the bar on all of them.

Women's 60 metre hurdles heats

Angela Whyte was 4th in Heat 1 with a time of 8.16 seconds.  She did not qualify to advance to the semi-finals.

Priscilla Lopes-Schliep crossed the line in 6th place in Heat 2 with a time of 8.66 seconds.  Lopes-Schliep did not qualify for the semis.

Women's high jump qualification

Nicole Forrester cleared 1.81 metres on her first attempt, cleared 1.86 metres on her second attempt but was unable to clear 1.90 metres.  Forrester did not qualify for the women's high jump final.

Women's 1500 metres heats

Hilary Stellingwerff crossed the line in Heat 2 of the women's 1500 metres in a time of 4 minutes 18.26 seconds, good for 9th in her heat.  Stellingwerff did not qualify to advance.

March 7th

Megan Metcalfe from Edmonton, AB set a new 3000m Canadian Indoor record of 8:48.56 during the rounds at the 2008 World Indoor Championships. 

Metcalfe was 4th in her heat and had advanced to the next round. 

Tyler Christopher from Edmonton, AB has advanced to the men's 400 metres semi-finals.  Christopher won Heat 3 in a time of 47.06.  The semis go tomorrow night at 19:00 Valencia time. 

Mike Mason from Nanoose Bay, BC advanced to the men's high jump final.  Mason missed his first two attempts at 2.27 metres but cleared on his third and final attempt to qualify for the final.

Dylan Armstrong of Kamloops, BC did not advance in the men's shot put.  Armstrong's best throw was 19.56 metres, achieved on his first attempt.  He faulted on his second attempt and his third throw registered at 19.03 metres.
