OTTAWA Athletics Canada announced today the team that will compete at the 2009 International Wheelchair and Amputee (IWAS) World Junior Championships. The competition takes place July 15-19 in Nottwil, Switzerland; Nottwil is a municipality in Sursee in the canton of Lucerne.
Dave Greig, Para-Athletics National Talent Development Coach and Head Coach for the IWAS World Junior team; The 2009 IWAS team is a good blend of youth and internationally experienced athletes. All participants will have something valuable to take away from the experience. This event is a vital step in the athlete pathway for our wheelchair racers and amputees; it allows our athletes to pit themselves against others in similar age categories with similar disabilities. The field will undoubtedly be larger than last year but I feel that this team of individuals can hold their own and represent Canada on the podium a number of times.
