Four Track & Field National Teams set to take on the World; Barnett named Mondo Top Performer

OTTAWA - Over the course of the next two weeks four national teams will be competing abroad against some of the worlds best. Stay tuned to athletics.ca for all of the latest results and information. First up is the FISU Games in Belgrade, Serbia where Canadian Track and Field team member Jim Steacy of Lethbridge, AB was recently named Flag Bearer for the Opening Ceremonies.
In other track and field news Bryan Barnett of Edmonton was named by Athletics Canada as the Mondo Top Performer of the Month. See bottom of release for more relating to this announcement.

Barnett named Mondo Top Performer of the Month
Bryan Barnett from Edmonton was named Athletics Canada's Mondo Top Performer of the Month after accomplishing the sprint double at the 2009 Canadian Track and Field Championships held at Varsity Centre in Toronto June 25-28.
Barnett earned the title of Canada's fastest man by taking the 100 metres and 200 metres titles in 10.28 and 20.71 seconds respectively. The last man to duplicate the sprint double at the Canadian Championships was Nicolas Macrozonaris in 2003.
