Priscilla Lopes-Schliep wins Silver

OTTAWA - Priscilla Lopes-Schliep of Whitby, ON won the silver medal today in the 100m hurdles at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Berlin, Germany.

In a very close race Lopes-Schliep captured the Silver medal with a time of 12.54 seconds. The Gold and Bronze medal were won by Jamaicans Brigitte Foster-Hylton and Delloreen Ennis-London in 12.51 and 12.55 seconds respectively; both were seasonal best performances.

Perdita Felicien of Pickering, ON finished 8th in the 100m hurdles final after her calves cramped up causing her to clip the second hurdle; she went on to finish the race in 15.53seconds.

Earlier today Adrienne Power of Halifax, NS ran in the women's 200-metres finishing 6th in her heat with a time of 23.38; Power does not advance.

Thursday's Action

Gary Reed of Victoria, BC races in round 1 tomorrow at 5:45am ET. Sultana Frizell of Perth, ON and Jennifer Joyce of Kamloops, BC will be competing in the hammer throw qualification; Joyce in group A at 7:45am ET and Frizell in group B at 9:20am.
