Nomination Deadline approaching for 2009 Athletics Canada Awards

OTTAWA - The nomination deadline is quickly approaching for Athletics Canada’s 2009 Annual Awards; all nominations are due by midnight Wednesday September 30th. Nominations are welcome by all members of the athletics community; please note that nominees must be current members of Athletics Canada in order to be eligible.

The 2009 Athletics Canada Award Finalists and Winners will be chosen by the Rules and Awards Committee. The winners will receive their awards at the Annual Awards Gala presented by Mondo on Saturday November 14th in Vancouver, BC.  The Gala is held in conjunction with the 2009 Technical Congress.

Jack W. Davies Trophy
Overall Athlete of the Year

Cal D. Bricker Memorial Trophy
Single Outstanding Performance of the Year

Phil Edwards Memorial Trophy
Top Athlete in Track Events

F.N.A. Rowell Trophy
Top Athlete in Field Events

Fred Begley Memorial Trophy
Top Racewalk, Cross Country or Off-Track Athlete

Combined Events Trophy
Athlete of the Year in Combined Events

Eric E. Coy Trophy
Outstanding Junior athlete of the year

Myrtle Cook Trophy
Outstanding Youth athlete of the year

Dr. Fred Tees Memorial Trophy
Top Canadian University Athlete (CIS)

Coach of the Year Trophy
Outstanding Coach of the Year (any level)

Outstanding Para-Athlete of the Year - Wheelchair Award
Top Para-Athlete in Wheelchair Events

Outstanding Para-Athlete of the Year - Ambulatory Award
Top Para-Athlete in Ambulatory Events
